Tagine is a multi-purpose word in Moroccan culture used to describe the earthen, cone-shaped, tabletop cooking vessel used to steam dishes and impart flavor, as well as a category of recipe prepared within the very vessel. Tagines serve as both the cooking vessel and the serving dish for double-duty use.
If it's not broken, don't fix it
Descriptions of food cooked "tagine style" date back to the 9th century classic, The Thousand and One Nights. A lot has changed in the last thousand years or so, but an appreciation for a good home-cooked meal is not one of them.
The reason this cooking method has endured for so long is because tagines allow food to carmelize while cooking and to stay warm for longer when serving. By virtue of slow-cooking meat at low temperatures, effectively braising it until tender, a variety of cuts can be used. Take it from Paula Wolfart, author of The Food of Morocco. She writes, “clay pots coddle food, bringing forth bright, natural flavors and an unctuous tenderness. Clay pots produce tender, juicier, tastier meat without basting and often with less fat; they heat evenly; they retain moisture, so the food remains succulent.” #yum
How They Are Made
Our tagines are formed from the rich, red Moroccan soil of Wadi Lan, and then decorated with a lead-free glaze. Add color to your dinner table with our soothing teal, arresting red, bright white, or beautiful blue. Learn more about the artisan tagine maker here.
Pair this beautiful tagine with one of our other unique Moroccan ceramic pieces such as the serving bowl, couscous platter and our Beldi cups!
Curing, Care & Dimensions
We highly recommend curing your tagine before first use. See detailed instructions for curing here.
Soak the base and lid in water for 24 hours.
Pat dry, then brush surfaces with olive oil and place in a cold oven.
Heat the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit and leave in the oven for 2 hours.
Turn off the oven and let the tagine cool completely.
After cooking, wash your tagine with hot water and baking soda, then pat dry and rub with a little olive oil. Not dishwasher safe.
*Small cracks in the ceramic are normal and over the years, the patina they create gives evidence of your cooking skills!
Dimensions 9" tall / 11" diameter

The open-back, traditional "Babouche" slipper is a throwback to 17th century French courtiers whose main cares were luxury and appearance. With the exaggerated point at the toes and the particular softness of the leather, these slippers were popular centuries ago and the style was recently featured as a Vogue must-have.
These house slippers are made with strong but soft goat leather to provide ultimate comfort and durability. Some things are better with time... these slippers will mold to the shape of your foot. Packaged in an organza drawstring pouch, these make the perfect girl-friend gift.
Naturally Vibrant Colors
The tanneries in Fez and Marrakech are famous for the brilliant colors and assortment of hides. Vegetable dyes such as saffron (yellow), mint (green), poppy flower (red), indigo (blue), henna (orange), and cedar wood (brown) are used to create these gorgeous hues. The slippers in the Verve Culture Collection are elevated with embroidery and tassels. They are available in two iconic color combinations orange with blue embellishment and blue with fuchsia.
Chouara Tannery in the oldest Medina quarter of Fez dates back to the 11th century. Talk about fine-tuning your craft! Today, the tanneries of Fez and Marrakech continue to produce some of the most highly sought leathers in all the world.

Traditionally, poufs from Morocco have been used to store bedding, clothing and household linens. They are also used as a small table, additional seating or foot rest. While many come stuffed with cotton thread or other materials, we love the idea of using them in such a space saving manner.
Our authentic Moroccan poufs are hand-made by a group of artisans from natural leather which is tanned locally in Marrakesh, or a soft, vegan velour. Each section is hand-stitched and the leather styles feature a decorative embroidery detail on the top.
A Labor of Love
As many as seven artisans, each with a particular skill, work in small workshops to make each pouf. Others, especially women, work in their homes so that they can look after their children, while they support their families.
Dimensions & Care
Leather: Spot clean with a damp cloth. Protect with a leather conditioner. Velour: Spot clean with a damp cloth.
Sizes: Leather: 12" high / 26" diameter (Brown, White) Velour: 15" high / 28" diameter (Blue)
